Knowledge Base: Outbound messages without a userkey
IMified restricts outbound messaging by only allowing an application to send messages to userkeys. Developers get userkeys for their users by capturing them when a user sends a message to an application. This ensures that an application can only send a message to a user who has previously conversed with the application. This restriction prevents the IMified platform from being used for abuse while still allowing developers to send alerts and notifications to their users.
Some applications require the ability to send messages directly to users without requiring that the user first initiates a conversation. IMified will enable unrestricted outbound messaging for applications upon request by a developer, if, at IMified's sole discretion, the application is not designed to abuse the outbound sending feature.
To request that IMified open your account for unrestricted outbound messages, send an email to help@imified.com and answer the following questions.
-
What is the email address associated with your IMified account?
-
Describe the purpose of your application.
-
Describe the process that IM and SMS users will use to opt-in for messages from your application.
-
Describe the process that end users will use to indicate they wish to stop receiving messages from your application.
Once your account is enabled for enhanced messaging, IMified reserves the right to re-implement the restrictions with or without notice if it is determined that your application is abusing the IMified platform or not complying with the terms of service of either IMified or the instant messaging networks your application is connected to.
One thing to keep in mind is that IM networks will not deliver messages to users unless your bot appears on their contact list. The easiest way to get a user to add your bot to their contact list is to ask them to send you a message first. Our platform will automatically accept the accompanying authentication requests and request authorization from the user in turn.
