How to get bot into google group chat?

I'm wondering how to get a bot into google group chat. If I chat with my bot (sounds stupid!?) and I convert the chat to a group chat, as soon as another person enters the chat, the bot drops out. The bot doesn't receive any communication upon dropping out.

Conversely, if I am in a group chat, and invite the bot, it neither enters the chat nor does it get any messages.

How do i get the bot to stay in the google-group-chat and listen and respond to the conversation? Thanks!

    Currently bots are only able to hold one on one conversations.
